View the Faces of CADASIL, a slideshow video about people from around the world with a rare and serious genetic disease. CADASIL is believed to affect many more people than have yet been diagnosed. CADASIL is sometimes misdiagnosed as MS, as patients may have similar symptoms. People from ten countries are represented in this video, but a world map of CADASIL would show that CADASIL does not discriminate.

"Speechless" (#47 - Stroke)

Published on Feb 26, 2014

I had a hemorrhagic stroke in 2008. I was 46 years old. The stroke paralyzed my right side and left me unable to speak for about three to six months. After I graduated from my therapy program I joined a new nonprofit organization called, "BIND" (the Dallas brain injury network) where I am helping them raise awareness about traumatic brain injuries, and strokes. The goal of bind is to open the first brain injury clubhouse in Texas, where stroke and brain injury survivors can continue to their treatment and therapy. After 5 1/2 years I still continue to improve.
