Published on Sep 24, 2012Trigger point dry needling is a treatment technique to assist with treatment and recovery of musculoskeletal injuries within all age groups.
TDN utilizes a needle designed to deactivate a taut muscle band, otherwise known as trigger point. Trigger points produce what is called referred pain, either spontaneously or with direct pressure.
The treatment releases the trigger point which decreases muscle firing, allows the muscle to relax, promotes healing, and decreases pain.
TDN is for everyone who deals with chronic pain on a regular basis, including shoulder, neck, lower back pain, and even muscular pain from overused sports injuries.
It is important to remember that TDN is used in conjunction with manual, physical therapy, and most important, exercises, which are designed for long term benefit.
