What Is The Single Best Thing We Can Do For Our Health
A Doctor-Professor answers the old question "What is the single best thing we can do for our health" in a completely new way. Dr. Mike Evans is founder of the Health Design Lab at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto, and a staff physician at St. Michael's Hospital.

Interview with Dr. Michael Evans
NXNE Interactive speaker Dr. Michael Evans is a leading light in "patient engagement", which is attempting to fuse the way we deliver health care with the new (and old) ways we personally solve our health problems. He is Director and founder of the Health Design Lab, which is redefining "interdisciplinary" in medicine by bringing together filmmakers, patients, technologists, designers, and marketers and combining them with clinicians and researchers to illuminate new pathways for evidence-based decisions. He is an inner city physician at St Michael's hospital, a scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, and an Associate Professor in Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Evans is most interested in how quality information gets dispersed. Whether through traditional means as Chief Editor of the top selling Canadian primary care textbook of medicine or his columns in the Globe & Mail, to more innovative mediums such as founding of the Mini Med School for the public at the University of Toronto, his "Evidence-Based Radio" program on CBC's Fresh Air, digital storytelling series "The Truth of It" for those immersed in the cancer journey, or "The Adventures of Medical Man" his recently released kids book.

I solved the problem of wet slippery shampoo.
I solved the problem of wet slippery shampoo & body wash bottles in the shower! Last night a new bottle of baby shampoo slipped & half of the content was lost not to mention the floor tiles in the roll in got slippery. ... SOLUTION: Today I found some wide rubber bands & slipped them onto the bottles, now even when wet the bottles stay put when holding them & won't slide out of your soapy hands... EUREKA!
I found the wide elastic rubber bands at WalMart in a variety bag of different widths & sizes.
Thought this tip might be helpful to pass along.

We are in the middle devising the second poll based on Google and it going to be published sometime in February - I think it is going to be much better. Sarah had an unexpected ischemic stroke when she was 18. She now suffers from aphasia, a
communication disorder. A million people in the USA have aphasia, and 250 thousand in the UK. Every 11 minutes, in the UK, 3 people will have a stroke. One of them will have aphasia.
More young people are suffering strokes. The probable reason for Sarah's stroke was a PFO, a hole in the heart. This was only discovered after the stroke, when Sarah had a barrage of tests to try to find the cause. The hole was closed using an amplatzer device, in November 2009.
We hope that this video might help other young people in a similar situation. I spent hours and hours online, looking for support and answers in the darkest days when Sarah was in hospital.

Sarah recorded this video on 13th May 2011, exactly two years after she suffered a stroke at the age of 18 when she was reading aloud in an English class at school. Sarah has Broca's Aphasia which affects speech, reading and writing. This is the third video showing Sarah's progress so far.
