SSTattler:
- Edmonton tried Bicycle Sharing System (2005 to 2008 operated by the Peoples' Pedal organization) and it failed! - they have to try it again (maybe try with Bixi)! BTW, for years they have a great Edmonton Bicycle Commuters' Society and BikeWorks!
- Europe has a great Bicycle Sharing System; USA is second after Europe - lots of bike cities; Canada is just started with (Bixi) Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto, (Sobi) Hamilton - more coming!
- I used, mostly, examples of Edmonton Bicycle Commuter's Society but all the cities have the very similar bike cities.

Edmonton Spring Bake and Bike Sale 2013
Published on Apr 29, 2013http://edmontonbikes.ca/bikeworks/
To celebrate the return of spring, the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters' Society hosted the 2013 Spring Bake & Bike sales at both of our locations on Saturday April 27, from 1-5pm. We had plenty of refurbished bikes and fresh-baked treats for sale.
BikeWorks North and BikeWorks South are fully-equipped, volunteer-run community bike workshops. We have all the tools (including specialty bicycle tools) needed to repair and maintain your bicycle, and mechanics to teach you how to do it. We also have a vast selection of used and new parts and bicycles available for purchase.

EBC Sweeps 100 Ave Bike Lane
Published on May 10, 2013It is the City of Edmonton's responsibility to maintain bike lanes so that they are safe and functional year-round.
They currently prioritize bike lanes at the same level as alleyways.
Despite repeated requests from many citizens via 311, bike lane and multi-use trail maintenance in 2013 has been dismal, and several weeks after making requests many routes continue to be dangerous or unusable.
The Edmonton Bicycle Commuters' Society couldn't wait any longer for the contra-flow bike lane at the curve around Victoria Promenade, which has been covered with a thick layer of sand, gravel and glass. Avoiding those hazards means veering out into the outside bend of (often fast moving) oncoming traffic.
So we took a broom from home and swept up.
