SSTattler: There is, at least hundreds, of YouTube videos of Bobath & NDT! And, be aware, there is a type of stroke treatment and there are very different between them - Bobath, functional, electrical, ..., etc. Some it is very good and some times is not - at least you can decide the best stroke treatment for you.

Course Description

This seminar presents the basic principles of neurodevelopmental treatment. Discussion and analysis of typical and atypical development is provided as a basis for understanding treatment needs. Concepts of assessment and problem-solving and the significance of physical handling treatment is emphasized. Case examples are presented. Handouts included in PDF file format.

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify the basic concepts of Neurodevelopmental Treatment
2. Describe the ICF evaluation and treatment planning concept.
3. Describe the significance of understanding typical and atypical development.

 In this film, we have selected positions that can maintain suppleness, endurance and balance of patients.

These exercises are positions who are used for long time (several millenniums) by people practicing yoga.

These positions were advocated in the method of Bobath (neuro developmental treatment) for the treatment of spastic children.

In hémiplégia, the training of functional activities in particular the maintenance of the perimeter walk is is associated with the practice of these exercises.

For hémiplégia who is not severely handicapped, these exercises during yoga sessions allow a good leisure activity. The patient is integrated into a yoga class with valid subjects, which has many advantages:
   - Meet other people (social)
   - Maintaining his fitness (flexibility, endurance, balance ...)
   - To support their morale and motivation long term (psychological role).

The same positions can also be taught by a Physical Therapist, in the form of exercises derived from "BOBATH - NDT's positions on a mat."
